Additional Information: This is a rare and important work by some of the most important Modern artists in the 20th century.
The Portfolio includes 12 chapters on 12 Modern Masters.
Each chapter includes an essay about the artist and a Wood Engraving in colours (Estampe gravee sur bois en couleurs) by the artist.
The essay is signed by the author, and the wood engraving is printed on a separate sheet of paper, HAND SIGNED in pencil by the artist, hand numbered in pencil "XXX/C" (30/100), inscribed and approved in pencil by Robert Rey and the details of the work and artist are printed on the lower margins.
The project was managed by Robert Rey who was a professor of History of Art in the "Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts" in France.
He also wrote the introduction to the portfolio.
It was edited by "L'image Litteraire" from Paris and Nice and by "Rafael Finelli-Feugere" from New York.
It was printed in a limited edition of 250 copies from which 100 were reserved for France (ours is one of them) and 150 for the rest of the world.
The portfolio box is made out of the Kees Van Dongen print.
In addition there is an extra folder containing 31 decompositions of the Henri de Waroquier print.
