Additional Information : This is an original etching by Salvador Dali.
The etching is Hand Signed in pencil by the artist at the lower right margins "Dali".
The work was part of the suite "Les Chants de Maldoror" that originally included 42 different etchings (all heliogravure reworked in drypoint).
Dali created these work in 1934 to illustrate the text of the publication by the same name by Lautreamont (1846-70).
The etchings are considered to be Dali most important whole work.
Although the etchings were prepared in 1934 they were finally fully published only in 1974 by Pierre Argillet and printed by Leblanc after the first attempt of printing the suite in 1934 by Skira was not successful due to financial problems and the sloe sales.
The 1974 edition was printed in a limited edition of only 100 impressions (all of which were hand signed by Dali)
The apper bears the old Arches watermark.
