It is also hand inscribed “pour M. Matthieu” [For Mister Matthieu], at the lower left of centre. It is a printer’s proof dedicated to the printer Emil Matthieu aside from the standard edition of 18.
It was printed by Emil Matthieu at Emil Matthieu Atelier, Zurich and published by Kornfeld and Klipstein, Bern in 1960.

Additional Information: This original lithograph is hand signed in pencil by the artist “Sam Francis” at the lower right margin. It is also hand inscribed in pencil “AP” [artist’s proof], in the lower-left corner. This impression is one of fourteen artist’s proofs aside from the standard edition of 50. This lithograph was created for the portfolio “Papierski” which included 7 different lithographs. It was published by Editions Daniel Papierski, Paris and printed by l’Atelier Gardner Lithograph, Buena Park, California, 1992. The seven lithographs were created between 1973 and 1984 and were finally published in 1992 to accompany the publication of the Sam Francis monograph by Yves Michaud in Paris.
