Title: Black-Red-Gold IV | Schwarz-Rot-Gold IV, 2015

Technique: Original Hand Signed and Numbered Screenprint and Float Glass Multiple

Size: 39 x 39 cm. / 15.4 x 15.4 in.

Additional Information: This original screenprint is hand signed and dated by the artist in black felt-tip pen “Richter” on a label, verso.
It is also hand numbered in black felt-tip pen from the edition of 100, on a label, verso.
It was published by Contemporary Editions, Germany, 2015 in a limited edition of 100 copies with 10 artist’s proofs and 2 trial proofs.

Note: This work was commissioned and published specially to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the reunification of Germany.

Technique: Hand Signed, Dated and Numbered Black and White Photograph, Silver Gelatin Print, Mounted on White Plastic Board with White Passe-partout

Paper size: 50 x 70 cm / 19.7 x 27.6 in.

Additional Information: This photograph is hand signed and dated by the artist in black ink “Richter 89” at the lower right corner.
It is also hand numbered in black ink from the edition of 50, at the lower left corner.
The photograph was published by Galerie Fred Jahn, Munich in 1989 in an edition of 50 impressions, each signed and dated by Richter.
It is based on a photograph oil painting Abstraktes Bild [Abstract Picture], which can be found in the Catalogue Raisonné of Richter’s paintings with the number 684-4.

Technique: Original Hand Signed, Dated and Numbered Portfolio with 9 Offset Lithographs on firm wove paper

Paper size: 44.9 x 44.9 / 17.7 x 17.7 in

Additional Information: This is Portfolio with 9 Offset Lithographs Hand Signed and Dated by the artist “Richter, 1969” in pencil at the lower right margins.
It is Hand Numbered in pencil “51/80” on the lower left margin.
The Portfolio includes the outer folder with title page and justification page.
It was co-published by Galerie Heiner Friedrich and Verlag G. v. Pape, Munich in 1969 in a limited edition of 80 copies with a few artist’s proofs.
It was printed by Hoppe & Werry, Mulheim an der Ruhr.

Note: In this portfolio Richter produced very elaborate optical illusions. He constructed the nine three-dimensional objects himself and photographed them in everyday environments.
Then he had the photographs professionally retouched so that the constructions appeared spatially impossible. He then re-photographed the reworked images and printed them using offset technique.

Title: Sheet Corner | Blattecke, 1967

Technique: Original Hand Signed, Dated and Numbered Offset Lithograph in Colour on Thin Cardboard with Granulated Texture

Paper size: 23.5 x 17.5 cm / 9.2 x 6.8 in.

Additional Information: This Offset Lithograph is hand signed and dated by the artist “Richter XI.67” (November 1967) in pencil at the lower right corner.
It is also hand numbered in pencil “74” in pencil on the corner of the turned sheet.
The lithograph was published by Galerie h (August Haseke), Hanover in 1967 in an edition of 739 impressions, each signed and dated by Richter.
It was printed by Freimann & Fuchs, Hanover.
It is based on a photograph of the 1965 oil painting Umgeschlagenes Blatt/ Turned Sheet which can be found in the Catalogue Raisonne of Richter’s paintings with the number 70-11.

Note: “Richter’s reflections of the artistic paradigms of the optical illusions is not constrained to the 20th century, but also goes back to old artistic forms.
The offset print ‘Sheet Corner’ depicts two sheets above each other, the right bottom corner of the upper sheet is turned down to the left.
The white bottom of the slightly yellow sheet is curved to the top and throws a distinct shadow on the large signature and dating (…). The graphic fulfils all criteria of a classic Trompe-l’oeil, an optical illusion.” (Butin 2004, p. 39).
