It is also inscribed “e.a” (épreuve d’artiste) [artist’s proof], at the lower left margin.
This drypoint is one of 35 artist’s proofs aside from the standard edition of 350.
It is one of six original drypoints for the portfolio illustrating Ernest Hemmingway’s “Der Alte Mann und das Meer” [The Old Man and the Sea].
It was printed by Le Blanc and published by Manus Presse, Stuttgart.
The paper bears the Arches watermark in the lower left margin and the blindstamp of the publisher at the lower left sheet edge.
