It was printed in a limited edition of 50 signed and numbered impressions by Morsang, Paris and published by Maeght Éditeur, Paris in the same year.

As with much of Greek mythology there are several stories attributed to Galatea by Homer and Hesiod as well as later works by Ovid and Virgil. Her son Galas is considered the forefather of the Gauls.
