This Work is stamp signed with the Collection stamp of "Steinlen - Ex. Collection Georges Clavigny" at the lower left.
Georges Clavigny (1873-1946) was a French journalist and writer and was also a close friend of Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen.
This drawing is a most probably a preparatory drawing for Steinlen work of the same subject from circa 1901 that was reproduced in July 1901 issue of L’Assiette Au Beurre with the caption: "Il vous sera beaucoup pardonne, mon enfant, parce que vous avez beaucoup aime (qui aime bien, paie bien)"
Provenance: Collection of Georges Clavigny.
Condition: Good condition. Discolouration of the paper and creases and folds at the lower and left part.
