FRANCOIS GALL Hungarian, French, 1912-1987

Marie-Lize, in front of the Vanity Mirror with Flowers / Marie-Lize Devant la Coiffeuse Fleurie, ca. 1950
Signed Oil Painting on Canvas
26.5 x 21.6 cm. / 10.4 x 8.5 in.
This painting is hand signed in red by the artist "F.gall" in the lower right corner.
The work was realised in the 1950's.

Note: Francois Gall, Hungarian by birth, became an impressionist painter in the pure French tradition after he moved to Paris in 1936. Born in 1912, he began studied all media at
the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Rome while working in menial jobs to secure a living.
Six years later, Francois Gall established himself in Paris and became a student of Devambez at the National Academy of Fine Arts. Francois Gall greatly admired the first generation impressionist and adopted their concepts for his own interpretations. Parisian scenes and portrayals of women engaged in typically feminine activities, like this small painting, were among his preferred subjects.

Condition: Good condition. Some craquelures in the middle of the image.
$ 3,500.00
