It is also signed with the artist’s initials in the lower right image.
This is probably a rare state proof before the final edition that was published in the portfolio “Kleine Holzschnitte” (Small Woodcuts ) of 36 prints by Verlag Neue Kunsthandlung, Berlin.

It is also hand numbered in pencil from the edition of 235, at the lower left margin.
It was printed in a limited edition of 235 by Erker Presse, St. Gallen and published by Gotthard de Beauclair of Ars Liborum, Frankfurt.
The paper bears the BFK Rives watermark in the lower left margin and the blindstamps of the printer and publisher in the lower left corner.
Note: This lithograph accompanied the poem “Les Collines” [The Hills] by Guillaume Apollinaire and was published in a portfolio of the same name. Another impression of this subject can be found in the collection of Les Musées de la Ville de Paris.

The paper bears a partial Van Gelder Zonen watermark.
Another impression of this subject is found in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum, New York.
Condition: Very good condition. Adhesive staining in all four corners. Soft creasing and minor nicks along the upper and lower sheet edges. Remnants of hinging tape at two points along the upper sheet edge, verso.

The paper bears the Guarro watermark in the lower left margin.
